An important city in the state of Ohio, Cleveland enjoys a lakeside setting and features a host of waterfront activities. The University Circle has become a particularly popular part of Cleveland. Many top attractions can be found in this area, close to the Case Western Reserve University, which lies around 5 miles / 8 km to the south of the downtown district.
Cleveland is home to the Hopkins International Airport (CLE), located on the southwestern side of the city, and also the Burke Lakefront Airport (BKL), a small local aviation airport with limited commercial services. Many buses are available around downtown Cleveland and the Greyhound stations stands along Chester Avenue, featuring regular trips to Pittsburgh, Chicago and even New York.
City buses traveling around the downtown district and beyond are operated by the Regional Transit Authority (RTA), with the Waterfront Line being especially popular. Located close to the popular Great Lakes Science Center, the city's Amtrak train station is situated along the Cleveland Memorial Shoreway.

In recent years, Cleveland's appearance has been transformed by its revitalized and rejuvenated waterfront areas, which is known locally as the 'Flats'. Lying in the heart of the city, Public Square can be found next to the Terminal Tower and dominates the area. One of the city's main thoroughfares is Ontario Street, which divides the area and heads in an east-west direction.
Many of Cleveland's top attractions are situated within the downtown area, although to the west, the Lakefront State Park is particularly popular. Further places of interest stand close to the Case Western Reserve University, around Coventry, in the Tremont area, and also in Ohio City. Cleveland Metro Park is an important area of green and is situated in the Brooklyn area, west of Newburgh Heights.
